Well I know it has been a while and I have been on 3 dates in the past 3 weeks and thought I should give you an update!
While the matchmaker has put my account on hold because she is unable to set me up on dates she is still my adviser! I text her about everything and we even call and chat if I get worried or what not.
So 2 dates I am not really going to go into too much they were fun-ish lol!
No one was a blast but that was probably because one of best friends was there too! She and her hubby set me up. Normally I would say no to a double date especially when I haven’t met the guy because I don’t feel you really get to know a person when you are hanging out with other people but I knew Mel (name changed to a character from Flight of the Concords) hadn’t met the guy, he was her husband’s friend so I decided it would probably just be better to double. I knew I wasn’t being set up because they thought we would be great together but because we were both single….sometimes that can work out. Any ways the guy was very nice and when we were in the car we had good conversation but I just really am not attracted to him. The date was fantastic though of course I ALWAYS have fantastic time with Mel. We met up for dinner at the Flaming Kabob (Mediterranean food) then went to the driving range. The weather was gorgeous and when I could actually get a good hit on the ball it was fantastic! Then we went to Mel and her hubby’s place and played games and had the best dessert! Mel made chocolate bowls for our ice cream it was delish!
The other date took place in LA he was awkward and talked A LOT! I don’t feel I can tell the story with the justice it deserves through the written word I need to act out parts. We went to dinner and talked for a bit….glad it is over!
Okay now for one of my most favorite dates! So I will give all the background because that is the fun stuff right?
So September 10th my ward had a pool party. It ended up raining with some lightening mixed in there about 30 minutes into the party. We moved to the Arizona room and 2 of my friends started to play Connect Four a groups of us were just kinda standing around watching….getting bored if you ask me…I talked to a few friends then like I said bored. Well there was this tall, dark and handsome man next to me. I looked him over J I had never seen him before and he looked around my age so then I tried to figure out how to start talking to him. I have never been good at just starting a conversation with a stranger mostly because I just don’t want to but I wanted to talk to him and he wasn’t wearing a watch so I couldn’t use my dad’s favorite pick up line of “Do you know what time it is?” so I noticed his towel had words on in and I asked him what it said! This led into a hour long conversation of getting to know each other. So fun! In the conversation I found out that he is 1 of 24 kids (5 from his parents 3 half siblings and the rest are step from mom and dad’s 2nd marriages’ WOW I know) he likes to hike, is attending ASU for a Computer Science degree and just got home from his mission 2 years ago…….WHAT????? Hold the phone he is 23! Ends up he is friends with my cousin’s husband. I couldn’t believe it but what is age right?????
So on Sunday I pointed to him and asked a friend how old he looked she said oh 28 or 29….so it is not just me! That Sunday we had combined Sunday School, Relief Society and Elders Quorum to learn about the new billboards for the I’m a Mormon campaign and Ted (named changed to character from How I Met Your Mother) and I sat next to each other and had a nice time. Monday night for FHE my thinking was to go in there and be cool! Talk to all my friends so he would see I am fun and friendly and not be the girl I normally am when I like someone which always leads me to the friend zone!
I show up and as I walk in so is he we spent the rest of FHE together and had a blast! I felt as if we were in a bubble and no one else was around. Seriously we talked to no one else! As we were leaving he asked for my number!!!!
Thursday night he calls me and asked me out for Saturday! I seriously was jumping up and down after we had hung up! This never happens to me J
My matchmaker had me delete his number from my phone so I could not text him before the date. I needed to appear busy which wasn’t too hard because I was sooo busy! And for the first time ever I had a hair appointment scheduled on the day of the date! Usually I get my hair all did and go home and watch tv but not this time! He picked me up and let me pick where I wanted to go for frozen yogurt! We went to my FAVORITE place Mojo’s yum! We sat outside in the shade by the splash pad and just talked and laughed at all the cute kids playing in the water. Then we went to a park near my house and he again gave me the option of Frisbee golf, bocce ball or basketball. I chose my favorite game…..Bocce ball!!! We had a blast playing it all over the park. Sometimes he would make it hard/silly by saying we had to through the ball over a tree branch or around a tree it was so fun! After the game he asked if I wanted to walk around the lake! I love walking around this lake it is so fun! I did this on a date once before with Dylan. There are pretty ducks and people fishing it is so peaceful! He was cute and would slow down my pace a couple times. I walk too fast lol. It was just a great date it didn’t last too long, we were active and competitive we really talked a lot and I felt he listened it was great!
Sunday was stake conference the matchmaker told me to be busy, talk to everyone, make him come to me! I did just that and he came!
Sadly we didn’t get to talk on Monday then I left on vacation and 2 weeks went by where I didn’t hear from him. Matchmaker reminded me we are just trying to get a 2nd date it is cool…
Last night I texted her and asked her what I needed to do when I saw him at family home evening and this is what she said…
“Be flirty and fun with everyone. Be interested in whomever you”re talking with. Let him approach you. If you catch eyes smile…linger a sec then look away. Don’t TRY to catch eyes with him. If he is interested and intrigued he will do something about it. You just happily go about your business and look busy! )And say a prayer that you will feel confident!!) xoxo”
I did just as she said and I felt so confident and so cute last night! The activity was so perfect we had to do a lot of mingling in the beginning so I was very interested in whoever I spoke with it was fantastic and like a moth to the flame he came over! He kinda followed me around till I was free and he could talk to me it was awesome!
I am hoping for a phone call this week for a 2nd date….fingers crossed!
Oh and PS pretty sure he does not know my age yet….good thing I have fantastic genes and look so young. I have been told people think I look any where from 20 to 25…..AWESOME!!!
I will keep ya’ll posted!
good luck!
ReplyDeleteAwesome. I was just told I look 23!
ReplyDeletehaha, so, I'm just now reading this (catching up at 1 in the am) and you know what I noticed on Friday night??? Ted was wearing a watch (pretty sure I even said that out loud, lol) and I was like, dang, too bad Madison is already with him ... she could have totally picked him up by asking what time is it, lol!
